Meet Sheryll Hirschberger and Douglas Reichwein
For Sheryll and Douglas, co-founders and directors of the Institute for Contemporary Feng Shui,
intellectual understanding of Feng Shui principles is only the beginning. To be truly effective
practitioners and teachers, they are committed to implementing these principles in their daily lives
and to offering their knowledge to others with integrity.
Sheryll and Douglas bring diverse aptitudes, skills, and experience to the Institute. As in the
Yin/Yang principle of complementary opposites, the combination of their unique backgrounds creates
a richer, stronger whole.
Sheryll Hirschberger
Sheryll has a professional background in teaching and human services. Since 1989, she has been
an Adjunct Professor of Communications at Cape Cod Community College. Prior to that time, she held
management positions in community education and fundraising in several large nonprofit
organizations.
Early on, Sheryll was inspired by Taoist principles which pointed the way towards creating a
harmonious life. Teaching others to use these principles in everyday life became the driving force
of her career. Her book, "Poised Power: A Guide for Everyone Who Wishes to Communicate with Greater
Ease," reflects this commitment.
To further help her clients and students create internal harmony, Sheryll became a certified
hypnotherapist in the early 1990s. As her counseling practice grew, she realized her clients
experienced a great deal of stress related to imbalances in their living and working environments.
The next, natural step was to study Feng Shui.
Sheryll received her Feng Shui certification from the Feng Shui Institute of America. She also completed the SOPHIA program, an intensive
study of the Five Elements, at the Traditional Acupuncture Institute in Baltimore, Maryland.
In April 2002, Sheryll co-founded The Institute for Contemporary Feng Shui to share the most
effective tools for harmonious living.
Sheryll is also a widely published writer. "The Feng Shui Deck," a collaboration with Olivia
Miller, best selling author of "The Yoga Deck," was released by Chronicle Books in
Fall 2003.
Douglas Reichwein
Douglas's professional background spans the practical and the esoteric.
On the practical end, Douglas has always had a fascination with how things work and a driving
desire to make things work better. This has led to the design of several inventions, including a
newly patented carpenter's tool.
Douglas has been a housing contractor and builder. In this capacity, he has gained valuable
experience about what works in a home, and what doesn't. Using his problem solving ability, he
found his niche in offering innovative solutions to structural challenges.
On the esoteric end, Douglas has the gift of energy sensitivity and intuitive understanding.
This led him to many years of study with accomplished spiritual teachers. Under their guidance,
he gained tools to anchor and expand his natural abilities. He has subsequently taught what he
learned to students across the country.
Douglas is also a licensed massage therapist in the state of Massachusetts. He completed 600
of hours of massage and polarity therapist training at The Polarity Realization Institute.
In April 2002, Douglas co-founded the Institute for Contemporary Feng Shui.
As a Feng Shui practitioner and teacher, Douglas brings together his unique blend of practical
and esoteric experience. He helps others create environments where the walls are in the right
places and the energy flows.
